Children’s Cavities Are Not “Just A Part Of Growing Up”

Billings Cosmetic Dentistry

This post from Neal C. Johnson DMD in Billings MT focuses on dental sealants, a preventative treatment used to help prevent cavities in children.

Dental sealants are a thin coat of clear resin that is applied to the biting surfaces of teeth, usually the rear molars. The back teeth are more prone to cavities. .

Once sealants have been applied, they can prevent eighty percent of cavities for up to two years. After that, they can be re-applied.

Sealants are used mostly in children’s teeth, but adults can get them too.

Of course, dental sealants are not a substitute for daily oral care. They should be considered a supplement to brushing and flossing; an added layer of protection against cavities. Remember: cavities can be prevented. They should never be considered a part of growing up.
